Noah: Good morning and welcome to Breaking News: Sponsored by Internet Explorer, a new news show exclusively on Breaking News News Network, that brings you the newest breaking news that just broke. I’m your host, Noah Newmann, and yesterday the Titanic began the transatlantic leg of its maiden voyage. Carrying more than two thousand passengers, she is the biggest ship currently afloat.

Wow, I just wish I was able to see that in person. But we’ve got the next best thing here on Breaking News News Network: one of our very own reporters is onboard right now, reporting live from the RMS Titanic! I’ll hand it over to you, John Brake!

John: Thank you so much, Noah. Yeah, wow, this ship is just incredible. There’s a seven-foot-deep saltwater swimming pool, a Turkish bath, and a gymnasium, to name a few. They are absolutely beautiful. In addition to her state-of-the-art amenities, the Titanic features advanced technology and safety features, including sixteen watertight compartments and eleven remotely activated watertight doors, and as a result, it is generally considered to be unsinkable! It’s so thrilling to be here.

Apr 14 - 2240 EDT

Noah: Folks, it is the evening of April 14, and we’ve just received some reports of distress calls originating from the RMS Titanic, yes the very legend herself. We’re not exactly sure what prompted these calls as of yet, but the Titanic had recently entered the Atlantic Marine Ecozone, sometimes referred to as Iceberg Alley. The leading theory is that the Titanic struck an iceberg, although many engineers are doubtful that this could cause any alarm on a ship as massive and sturdy as the Titanic.

She can survive with as many as four of her watertight compartments flooded, so damage caused by a puncture in the hull from an iceberg should not pose a significant threat to her seaworthiness.

That’s all we’ve got for now, with more details soon to emerge on this astounding turn of events! Be sure to tune in to Breaking News News Network for the hottest Breaking News. We’ll be back after a short break.

April 15 - 0800 EDT

Noah: It’s the morning of Monday, April 15, and we have not received any new transmissions from the Titanic. Despite this, the A.S. Franklin, the vice president of the International Mercantile Marine Company just released a statement saying that they were “perfectly satisfied that the vessel is unsinkable.” They say the lack of communication is nothing to be worried about and could be “due to atmospherical conditions, the coming up of the ships, or something of that sort.” Despite their reassurances that “the Titanic [can] withstand any damage,” the public has been thrown into a frenzy.

April 15 - 1649 EDT

Noah: We have just received confirmation that the Titanic has sunk after being struck by an iceberg in the Northern Atlantic Ocean. It is estimated that casualties are in the hundreds, and possibly even the thousands. Survivors were loaded onto lifeboats and are currently being conveyed by the RMS Carpathia to New York. The public is reeling from the shocking sinking of a ship as revolutionary and massive as the Titanic, which had been called unsinkable, even as recently as this morning by the ship’s owners.

In fact, manufacturers were so certain of her invincibility that there were only 20 lifeboats aboard, which could only hold one third of the Titanic’s passengers and crew, a fact which is sparking outrage and disbelief.

It’s unclear what actually caused the sinking of the Titanic, and it is rumored that the US Senate will launch an inquiry into the sinking in the coming days. Hopefully, this will shed some more light on this tragic event.
