How does the Khranicle work?

Since you are reading this, you have almost certainly heard of the Khranicle, but do you know how articles are made and what we do during the meetings?
No?
Well, here’s how the Khranicle works.
There are many different roles of people in the Khranicle. You can be a Journalist, an Editor, a Marketer, or a Technician.
Journalists, as you can probably guess, write articles. (As an addition, 0 out of the 9 people in the room (when I took this poll) use Chat-GPT to write their articles. So, you aren’t reading articles written by AIs. Yet.)
There are two different editors. Desk Editors are members of The Khranicle who edit articles and work closely with journalists. Managing Editors edit articles right before they are published.
Marketers advertise articles (You know the posters that tell you to read the Khranicle? Yup, that’s created by them).
Technicians help Ali (or whoever the main technician will be) with technical stuff like creating the website and publishing articles.
The last and final role is the Casual Contributor. Casual Contributors write articles for only one edition. You don’t have to be part of the Khranicle to be a Casual Contributor. You can just enter the club at the start of a new edition and write something for that month (This is a passive aggressive suggestion for you to write an article for the Khranicle)!
Across the month, we have four days when we meet (once every week).
Day one goes something like this:
Adhya: Fill out the monthly article topic ideas form and we’ll check in with you in a few minutes.
The monthly article topic ideas form is a form where Khranicle people write down their ideas to decide which one to do. These ideas can range anywhere from gender bias in medical misdiagnoses to a creative writing piece by a student. We go through the responses together and decide who will do what idea (the person who wrote it gets priority while deciding whether they do it or not).
In a lot of cases we skip the monthly article topic form and go straight to the monthly article checklist. The monthly article checklist is pretty much what you would expect. It’s a list with all of the articles people want to publish that month.
If we have more time, we start the outlines.
Okay, so we now have a list of the articles we want to publish, what’s next?
Day two:
*insert dramatic music*
On Day two we start writing first drafts.
Well, in theory we start writing first drafts. In reality, most people are continuing their outlines or are still choosing their topic :).
Day 3:
This day is where the editing comes in. Everyone's supposed to be done with around ½ a draft.
Adhya: Alright, everyone, it’s time for peer review. Please stand up and tell everyone what article you're writing.
We then decide who is reviewing whose article and work together on editing. Or at least that’s how it’s supposed to go. Here’s how it really goes:
Adhya: Raise your hand if you have started writing your article.
Silence. One person raises hand.
You’ve probably figured out by now. Nothing goes according to the normal timings.
Okay, now we are at the final day.
Day 4:
*dramatic music continues*
This is the last day, so we have to complete our articles and get them reviewed by the MEs.
The MEs are Managing Editors or the main editor people. They edit the articles and make sure that they are actually ready to be published.
A few days from then, the articles will be published (theoretically).
